KEITH M. BANFIELD CO. LTD. was started by Keith and Claire Banfield in 1971 as commissioned agents with only an administrative clerk to assist them. A wide range of products were sold including windows, hardware items, pharmaceuticals, confectionery and others. Within a year it was expanded to include textile and wearing apparel. By 1981 the company purchased its first property and another in 1986. By that time it operated in two locations. One on Halifax and Gore Street selling fabric and haberdashery and the other on Tanteen Terrace. The head office as well as the warehouse and showroom for the windows and doors was located at the Tanteen Terrace’s location and still is to this day.

In 2005 the fabric and haberdashery department closed as Claire Banfield retired and the building was divided into 3 floors for separate lease.

In 2012 Michelle Gordon, daughter of Keith and Claire Banfield took over the overall operations of the company after herself joining the company in 1998.
